In this episode…

Many families believe mental health support is only necessary during a crisis, but what if that belief is actually preventing healing and growth? From communication breakdowns to unresolved grief and anxiety, some of the most damaging patterns develop long before anyone realizes there is a problem. How can families recognize these challenges before they become overwhelming?

Ramla shares why therapy should be viewed as a proactive tool rather than a last resort. She discusses the connection between anxiety, grief, addiction, and major life transitions, while explaining why so many people struggle to seek help. The conversation also explores relationship challenges, cultural influences on mental health, and the importance of understanding family dynamics through a more compassionate lens.

In this episode of Beauty Talk, host Daniel Gouw interviews Ramla Aden, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Addiction Counselor, and founder of Kaltum Counseling & Recovery serving clients throughout Virginia and Washington, DC. Drawing from years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and those facing complex mental health challenges, she shares valuable insights on therapy, cultural responsiveness, grief, addiction, relationships, and emotional wellness. Tune in to learn how to make informed choices about your health, beauty, and well-being.
