  • Understand how somatic practices, gentle movement, and breathing exercises can support relaxation and body awareness.
  • Hear how Rebecca learned from her early experiences as a massage therapist and changed her techniques after clients reported feeling worse following deeper treatments.

  • Learn how Rebecca is making massage, yoga, and wellness services more inclusive for people with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and different body types.

In this episode…

Does a deeper massage really mean better pain relief, or could too much pressure leave your body feeling worse? Many people believe that effective massage needs to hurt, but massage therapist Rebecca Jeremiah challenges that assumption. When it comes to chronic pain, muscle tension, and sensitive joints, could a gentler approach actually be more appropriate?

Rebecca shares how her experiences with chronic illness shaped her understanding of body awareness, nervous system regulation, and individualized wellness care. She recalls an important lesson early in her massage career when clients reported feeling worse after treatments that were too aggressive. From adapting massage techniques for people with hypermobility to exploring somatic practices and trauma informed care, Rebecca explains why understanding each person's physical and emotional needs matters just as much as the treatment itself.
