In this episode…

What if some of the most important events shaping your life are the very ones you can’t remember? Many people assume trauma only refers to extreme experiences, yet emotional wounds can come from loss, instability, family conflict, poverty, or experiences that seemed insignificant at the time. If trauma can remain hidden for years, how do you know whether it is affecting your life today?

In this conversation, Zena Chase explains how trauma can surface unexpectedly through anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and emotional triggers that seem disconnected from current circumstances. She shares how therapies such as EMDR and brain spotting help uncover compartmentalized memories, discusses the strong connection between trauma and addiction, and reflects on a powerful case involving a teenager struggling with identity, family acceptance, and mental health challenges.

In this episode of Beauty Talk, host Daniel Gouw interviews Zena Chase, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor and founder of Chasing The Vision Counseling Services in North Carolina. Drawing from her extensive experience in trauma, addiction, and mental health treatment, she shares insights on anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, therapy misconceptions, the evolving impact of AI on mental health, and what it takes to build emotional resilience. Tune in to learn how to make informed choices about your health, beauty, and well-being.
