In this episode…

Many people opt for plastic surgery for basic aesthetic reasons. However, reconstructive surgery may be necessary in instances involving facial trauma or removal of tissue due to skin cancer. Whether for personal preference or recovery purposes, plastic and reconstructive surgery foster confidence.

Dr. Tang Ho, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon veteran, considers his profession an art form. Each patient has unique traits, requiring the surgeon to observe and alter methods as necessary. While procedures essentially remain the same, patterns, frequencies, and positioning of injections and implants may be reimagined based on facial structure. Continued education and applied experience have helped Dr. Ho’s ability to treat each patient with the individuality necessary to create a one-of-a-kind appearance.

On this episode of Beauty Talk , Daniel Gouw welcomes Dr. Tang Ho, Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Assistant Professor for the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at UTHealth, to discuss the nuances of his career in academic medicine. Dr. Ho explains the difference between academic and private clinical medicine, shares the role of creativity in cases involving trauma and cancer patients, and predicts the future of aesthetics rests in refinements of older technologies.
