Dr Katharine Legaspi

Dr. Katharine Legaspi, a third-generation dentist with a DMD from Midwestern University in Arizona and a passion for both clinical dentistry and entrepreneurship. In 2025, she took the next step in her career by becoming the owner of her own dental practice, where she’s been able to build the kind of patient experience and practice culture she envisioned for herself. She wanted to make dentistry feel more human, intentional and calm without compromising clinical excellence. It grew out of a desire to elevate not just the dentistry itself, but the entire experience surrounding it - from the way patients are welcomed to the way care is delivered. A place where that warmth, calm, and sense of care actually lingers after the appointment ends. She’s proud to have built a career that combines healthcare, leadership, and entrepreneurship, while creating something that is uniquely her own.

Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll learn:

  • Learn why fillings, crowns, root canals, and other dental work still require ongoing care and regular monitoring.
  • Understand how cavities and infections can develop around dental work that was completed years earlier.
  • Explore how Dr. Legaspi separates foundational dental health from cosmetic goals when creating a treatment plan.
  • Find out how digital X-rays and visual technology can help patients better understand what is happening inside their mouths.
  • Hear why Dr. Legaspi believes patient education should focus on showing people what their dentist sees rather than simply telling them what to do.
  • Gain a clearer understanding of how previous negative dental experiences can affect a patient's willingness to return for care.
  • Discover how a slower, more personalized approach can help patients feel comfortable discussing their concerns and treatment options.
  • Learn why maintaining healthy teeth and gums is an ongoing process rather than something that ends after a procedure.
  • Understand what patients can look for when choosing a dentist for preventive, restorative, or cosmetic care.

In this episode…

If your teeth do not hurt, does that actually mean they are healthy? Many dental problems can develop without obvious symptoms, which is why Dr. Katharine Legaspi encourages patients to look beyond pain when deciding whether something needs attention. So what could be happening even when everything seems to feel fine?

Dr. Legaspi explains how cavities can develop around existing fillings and crowns, why previous dental treatment still requires maintenance, and how visual tools can make dental concerns easier for patients to understand. She also shares how she uses X-rays and imaging to show patients exactly what she sees, including how close decay may be to the nerve, so they can make informed decisions about treatment rather than waiting for discomfort to appear.

In this episode of Beauty Talk, host Daniel Gouw interviews Dr. Katharine Legaspi, a general dentist and owner of Smile Haus Dental Studio in Mesa, Arizona. A third-generation dentist, Dr. Legaspi earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Midwestern University in Arizona. She discusses preventive and cosmetic dentistry, dental anxiety, patient education, ongoing maintenance, treatment planning, and creating a more comfortable dental experience. Tune in to learn how to make informed choices about your health, beauty, and well-being.
