He specializes in deep-plane facelift surgery and advanced neck rejuvenation, including complex deep-neck techniques. He also holds multiple leadership positions within The Aesthetic Society and directs the Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship of Los Angeles

Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll learn:

  • Discover why addressing only one area of the face can sometimes make facial rejuvenation look less natural.
  • Learn how Dr. Luis Macias approaches the face as a whole to create subtle changes that work together.
  • Understand why facial aging happens across multiple anatomical layers, from the skin and facial fat to the underlying bone.
  • Explore how deep plane facelift surgery repositions deeper facial structures rather than relying on skin tightening alone.
  • Find out what makes advanced deep neck rejuvenation different for patients whose concerns extend beneath the platysma.
  • Discover the signs Dr. Macias considers when deciding whether nonsurgical treatments are still appropriate or surgery may provide a more durable result.
  • Understand how weight loss, genetics, sun exposure, smoking, and other factors can influence when visible facial aging appears.
  • Hear how Dr. Macias helped a patient who came to him after experiencing complications from facial surgery performed elsewhere.
  • Gain insight into what patients should consider when choosing a plastic surgeon, including board certification, before and after results, trust, and complication care.

In this episode…

Why can doing less during facial rejuvenation sometimes make the result look more obvious? Dr. Luis Macias explains that focusing too much correction on one area can create a mismatch with the rest of the face, contributing to the pulled or unnatural appearance many patients want to avoid. So what actually creates a refreshed result that still looks like you?

The conversation explores deep plane facelift surgery, advanced neck rejuvenation, and the multiple anatomical layers involved in facial aging. Dr. Macias also explains when nonsurgical treatments may no longer be enough and shares the story of a patient who came to him after experiencing facial paralysis and infection following surgery elsewhere, including how revision treatment ultimately improved her outcome.
